With Thomas Davison's imprint on the verso of the title-page and at the end. Dedicated by Miss Batty to her father, Dr Batty, M.D., F.L.S., i.e. the obstetrician Dr. Robert Batty (1763?--1849). The accompanying letterpress is by an anonymous hand. Some plates are misnumbered; there are engraved vignettes on the title-plate and end-page.

Binding C19th green straight-grained morocco, gilt and blind triple-rule borders with gilt and blind corner-pieces, gilt-tooled spine with geometrical motif, gilt edges. Binder's name in gilt lettered vertically on front inside dentelle: 'Colnaghi & Co. London'.
