Anonymous. By William Beckford. A series of lives of imaginary artists written in parody of the then popular genre of lives of the painters, written in Beckford's seventeenth year when he was still living at Fonthill surrounded by his father's extensive collections of art. With a final leaf of errata. ESTC t62056.

Copy Notes Copy 1: Purchased for 2s. 6d. from Edward Lumley on 27 May 1829. (Priv. Corr.XVI.E.6:26). Inscribed in pencil on the title-page a Skit / [--?] W: Beckford; on front pastedown (in the same hand?) at the Fonthill sale 2 copies / were sold for one Guinea each; and in ink in Soane's hand, 3s/6 Lumley.
Copy 2: 18.5 cm.

Binding Copy 1: Marbled-paper boards, grey paper spine.
Copy 2: C18th tree calf, gilt-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label.
