Govard (or Govert) Bidloo was a librettist, playwright and anatomist who was the personal physician of William III of Orange-Nassau from 1695 until the King's death in 1702. He was also the author of an important anatomical atlas, Anatomia humani corporis, Amsterdam 1685. A French translation of this account of King William's visit to Holland was also published by Leers in the following year (q.v.)

Copy Notes A copy of 'Entry of William 3rd in Holland', probably the present volume, was bought from Thomas Boone for 12s., 16 June 1818. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.3.9). Inscribed in pencil in Boone's hand on front paste-down 15 Large Plates/ & 2 Portraits of K. William fine with the cipher xmx and in ink on front free endpaper, in another hand n.945 / Z-zt-.

Binding C17th vellum, blind-ruled borders and panels with corner finials and diamond-shape cartouches in the centre, the spine roll-tooled in blind and inscribed in ink with the title.
