The plates are numbered 1--86, omitting nos. 37 and 38, but with an unnumbered plate following pl. 33 and four plates numbered '57'. There are two states of the title-page vignette of Fame: one (earlier?) unsigned, the other signed 'Io. Bap. Lenardus del. Hiern. Frezza sculp.'

Copy Notes Copy 1: This copy has an extraneous, unnumbered plate inserted at p. 192, showing the form of an ancient well. The title-page vignette is in the unsigned state. Plates 1, 5, 15, 16, 18, 29, 51, 59, 63, 76, 85 and 86 (i.e. the folded plates) have been misbound in the copy of vol. I of Bonanni's Numismata pontificum Romanorum, 1699 (q.v.), with which it was bought by Soane as part of a three-volume set from Priestley & Weale on 24 May 1824. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.9). With Priestley & Weale's label pasted in on the front paste-down.
Copy 2: 35.1 cm. With the variant etched title-page vignette signed 'Io. Bap. Lenardus del. Hiern. Frezza sculp.'

Binding Copy 1: C18th calf, gilt-tooled spine, navy blue morocco spine-label. Copy 2: C18th red morocco, gilt triple-rule borders, gilt-tooled spines with fleurs-de-lys and cypher of interlaced C's surmounted by an earl or count's coronet, gilt fore-edges. Uniformly bound with Bonanni's Numismata pontificum Romanorum, 1699 (q.v.).
