First edition 1754. The plates and engraved illustrations are numbered consecutively I--XXXVII. The unsigned, undated, folded map (renumbered pl. II) is a later state of that published as pl. I in the first edition of Borlase's The natural history of Cornwall, 1758 (q.v.). ESTC t139784.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on front paste-down, not in Soane's hand, Bought at Bath Mr Tyndales Sale. 1780, with semi-erased price: 5:5:0; and in pencil on the verso of front free-endpaper Antiquities - with the Natural History 2 Vols 4£.14s.6d in the hand of the bookseller Thomas Boone from whom Soane evidently bought it, and whose cipher chx is pencilled on the rear free-endpaper and pastedown.

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt-tooled and gilt double-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label. Bound uniformly with a copy of the author's The natural history of Cornwall, 1758 (q.v.).
