Translated from Latin. First published with the title Antiquitatum Graecarum in Franeken (Friesland) in 1715; the first edition to contain the notes of J.F. Leisner (d. 1767) appeared in Leipzig, 1749. This is the first English edition. ESTC t130348.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on front free-endpapers J.Wolcot / 1781. John Wolcot (1738-1819), physician and satirical poet who wrote under the name of Peter Pindar, was a friend of Soane's. Inserted at the front is a letter to Soane dated 17 May 1819 from a mutual friend of Wolcot's, William Francies, presenting Soane with this book and promising to send him one of Wolcot's drawings in future.
