Britton's Remarks were written for Whittingham's edition of the Dramatic works of Shakspeare, 7 vols, Chiswick, 1814. According to an inscription to Britton and Soane's mutual friend John Taylor in the Bodleian copy (shelfmark Mal. B 351), only 25 separate copies were printed, not for sale.

Copy Notes The Soane copy is interleaved throughout with the same paper as that used for printing the text, and inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper Only 5 copies of this sort printed. / none for sale - / To John Soane Esqr. R.A. F.S.A. &c. / with the Authors respectful Compl[imen]ts. / Nov. 1814 -.

Binding C19th fawn straight-grained morocco, gilt roll-tooled palmette border, gilt-tooled spine, marbled edges to match the endpapers, narrow dark-blue ribbon bookmark.
