Unperfected half-sheet, folded, with drop-head title dated at head 'London, No.79, Titchfield Street, February 15, 1796.' Specimens of the work could be seen, and the names of prospective purchasers taken, 'at the Proprietor's, W. Byrne; and at Mr. Hearne's, No.5, Macclesfield Street; ... Also at Mr. Edwards's, Bookseller, Pall Mall; Mr. Dilly's, Bookseller, Poultry; and at Messrs. White's, Booksellers, Fleet Street.' The volume was to be issued in thirteen numbers, price 15 shillings each on delivery. Each number was to contain four plates with their letterpress descriptions in English and French, the first being promised 'May next'. Further advertisements for other works engraved, published and sold by Byrne (including vol. I of Antiquities of Great-Britain, originally published 1778--1786 and likewise available in numbers but priced at 12 shillings each) appear on the facing page of this prospectus. Publication of the second volume of Antiquities was completed in 1807. ESTC t83939.
