CALDERARI, Conte Ottone (1730--1803)
Disegni e scritti d'architettura di Ottone Calderari volume primo (secondo)
Vicenza:, tipografia Paroni,, 1808--15.
2 vols ; 47.2 cm. (2°)
i: [7], 4--42, [2] p., XLVII pl.
ii: 30, [6] p., XLIII pl.

The dedication to Antonio Canóva [sic] is signed by 'Gli Editori' Antonio Diedo, Giovambatista Marangoni, Andrea Rigato and Agostino Vivorio. The final leaf in both volumes is blank. Although the title-page imprint in vol. II is dated 1815, at the end of the editors' 'Avvertimento' in that volume there is a second imprint reading 'Venezia Dalla Tipografia Di Alvisopoli MDCCCXVII.' This probably relates however only to the printing of the bifolium in which it occurs. The 'Avvertimento' promises a separate quarto volume devoted to Calderari's writings on the orders, but this evidently never appeared. BAL, Early printed books, no. 522; Berlin Kat. 2734.

Copy Notes Bought from Priestley and Weale for 6 guineas on 24 May 1826. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.9). The 'Indice Generale' and 'Avvertimento' are misbound to follow the vol. I title-page.

Binding C19th half goatskin, red morocco-grained cloth boards, new gilt-tooled morocco spine, marbled edges to match the endpapers. Two volumes bound in one. Payment of £1 5s. 0d. to George Richmond, bookbinder, 1 September 1853. (Curatorial Papers/Bailey/Parcel 1).
