The final leaf is blank. Carlisle, surgeon to the Westminster Hospital from 1793, was evidently known to Soane before he became Professor of Anatomy at the Royal Academy from 1808 to 1824, and Soane attended his first Royal Academy lecture on 23 January 1809 (Journal 5). On 14 September 1832 following a visit to Soane's unequalled Museum, Carlisle wrote to express his regret that no person connected with the healing Art / with the exception of Mr. John Hunter / should have possessed a magnanimous / public spirit like yours. (Priv. Corr. XVI.H.93).

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on title-page From the Author / Feb: 18: 1805. Soane acquired a copy of the 1753 edition of Cheselden's Osteographia in the same year (q.v.). Bound (8) in a collection of pamphlets.

Binding C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine, maroon spine-label lettered 'Pamphlets &c', later numbered '32' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
