Cesios's plates were first published in 1657 as Argomento della Galeria Farnese dipinta da Annibale Caracci, with text by G.P. Bellori (see BAL, Early printed books, no. 591). Plates XXVI--XXX and bis pl. XXX each bear two impressions. The explanatory Latin text by 'Lucius Philarchaeus' (identified in the British Library catalogue as Michael Angelus Monsacrati) is new to this edition. Title-page printed in red and black.

Binding C18th mottled sheep, upper and lower covers with gilt-tooled arms of an Italian count or viscount. Lower cover with lozenge-shaped paper shelf-label lettered in ink '10/1'; spine with rectangular paper shelf-label lettered in ink '360'. Remains of larger ink-lettered label at upper right corner of upper cover.
