With a dedication to Robert Saunders Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville (1771--1851), signed by the author, Basil Cochrane. The imprint of Cox, Son, and Baylis appears on the verso of the title-page. The plates include a section of Middlesex Hospital showing the installation of Cochrane's vapour bath, and designs for a bathing room in a private house. The main text is printed on pp. [1]--22; the 11 plates are bound between pp. 16 and [17], each facing a letterpress leaf of explanatory text.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on the title-page From the Author / To The Right Honble / Mr David Dundas K B / Commander in Chief &c &c, with some passages ticked in pencil in the margins.

Binding Original C19th blue paper boards backed in white paper, the author's name inscribed in ink on the spine, the upper cover inscribed No 12493/4.
