First edition published in three volumes in 1710 (q.v.). The full-page frontispiece plates engraved by Charles Grignion after Francis Hayman are included in the register and pagination. Contents: Vol. I. The old bachelor. The double dealer. Love for love. -- Vol. II. The mourning bride. The way of the world. The judgment of Paris. Semele, with Poems on several occasions. A nine-page list of books printed for T. Lowndes appears at the end of volume I. ESTC t26069.
Copy Notes Bookseller's inscription in pencil on vol. I front free-endpaper in pencil 2Vs-cf. An unspecified edition of the works of Congreve was bought for £2 12s. 6d. from Thomas Boone on 13 May 1807 (Spiers Box), but cannot be securely identified with either of the editions in the Soane Museum.
Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt-ruled spines, red spine labels.
