Copley, John Singleton, the younger (1772--1863)
A concise vindication of the conduct of the five suspended members of the Council of the Royal Academy. The second edition, with a postscript. By authority.
London (Place), printed for John Stockdale,, 1804
46, 17, [3] p. ; 20.2 cm. (8°)

Anonymous. By the son of the painter, John Singleton Copley, the younger. According to J.D. Prown (John Singleton Copley in England 1774--1815, 1966, p. 468) Soane was the author of the postscript which was added to this edition and printed with a separate register (2A-B4 C1). In other respects this 'second edition' appears to consist of the sheets of the first edition published in the same year (q.v.) with a reset title-leaf and excised final blank leaf F4. Thomas Hope wrote to Soane on 7 April 1804 acknowledging Soane's presentation of a copy to him. (See A.T. Bolton, Portrait of Sir John Soane, London 1927, p. 109).
