The Prince of Wales v. The Examiner. A full report of the trial of John and Leigh Hunt, proprietors of The Examiner, on an information filed ex-officio by the Attorney-General. Decided by Lord Ellenborough, and a special jury, in the King's Bench, Westminster, on Wednesday, the 9th of December, 1812. Convicted of criminal libel against the Prince of Wales, John and Leigh Hunt were sentenced on 3 February 1813 to pay a fine of £500 each and to serve two years' imprisonment in separate gaols. At bottom the Tory fear of The Examiner (q.v.) was its 'Bonapartism'. The final page advertises two works by the editor of The Examiner.

Copy 2: 21.5 cm. With the half-title of the preceding item in a volume of pamphlets bound in at the front. Bound (8) in a collection of political and satirical tracts.

Binding Copy 1: Bound in number '15' of a series of later C19th half calf pamphlet volumes. (Archive, Trustees' Minutes 18 June 1866). With binder's stamp 'Bound By Mansell' on front pastedown.
Copy 2: C19th calf, gilt roll-tooled borders, gilt double-ruled spine, red spine-labels, gilt-lettered 'Political Pamphlets'. Numbered '75' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
