First published 1829--33. This "second" edition was issued in Murray's 'Family Library' series (nos. IV, X, XIII, XIX, XXVII, XXXVIII). Volumes III-VI were re-issued from the first edition. Volume IV, containing the lives of British architects, is dedicated to Soane.

Copy Notes Imperfect; volume III wanting the portrait of Joseph Wilton opposite p. 68. Tipped in at the front of volume IV is a letter from Cunningham to Soane dated 25 January 1831 requesting his acceptance of the dedication. Also inserted in this volume is a printed notice of the publication on 1 February [1831] of George Cruikshank's 'Scraps and Sketches', part iii and 'Twelve Sketches Illustrative Of Sir Walter Scott's Demonology And Witchcraft together with a copy of the January 1831 issue of Murray's The Family Advertiser (q.v.). Inserted at the front of volume III is a copy of the May 1830 issue of the same title (q.v.).
