The author of this historical description of Amsterdam, the Dutch physician and scholar Olfert Dapper, also published a number of highly esteemed descriptions of several parts of the world based on travel narratives.

Binding Late C18th English (?) vellum, gilt-ruled and blind roll-tooled palmette and anthemion borders, gilt and blind double-ruled spine, black spine-label, marbled edges.
