First published in 1809. "The second edition of 1811 had considerable influence in exciting interest in rare books and early editions, which peaked at the duke of Roxburghe sale of May and June 1812." (ODNB). Illustrated with an etched plate, etched illustrations on the title-page and in the text, and woodcuts of portraits, facsimiles of book decorations, printer's marks, etc.

Copy Notes Soane bought his copy of the popular second edition on 31 May 1811 from A. Maxwell for £1 4s. 6d. (Priv. Corr. E.2.14).

Binding C19th calf, gilt-ruled borders and spine, dark blue morocco spine-labels. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 5s. 4d., 18 April 1829. (Archive 7/10/18 Book-binding).
