Norinbergæ:, impensis Balthasari Caymox,, 1598.
etched frontis. port., etched title-pl., [207] leaves (numbered 2, 4--209) : [1] etch. illus. ; 38.5 cm. (2°)

Parallel text in Latin and French. This edition appeared in the same year as the first collected edition of Dietterlin's works in German (q.v.). The dedication is omitted in this edition. The general title printed in red and black with the name of Hubrecht [Caymox] in the imprint cancelled in ink. The title-plate of book III is from book I of the 1593 edition and is partly printed in sepia with the numbers altered in ink. Plate 6, the Tuscan order, is printed on both recto and verso of the leaf. See notes to BAL, Early printed books, no. 881.

Copy Notes The plates are worn in comparison to the 1598 German edition (q.v.) and their numbers are sometimes differently positioned or erased altogether and the numbering supplied in ink. Plates 168 and 169 are transposed; likewise plates 187 and 188. Bought from Henry Torond, 4 John Street, London Fields, Hackney for 3 guineas on 16 February 1826; receipt pasted down on rear free-endpaper. (Office Account Book, 1824--28. 6/23/3). There is an illegible inscription in ink (possibly a name) on the portrait plate and a shelfmark 10.g in ink on the title-page.

Binding repaired by Edwin Hutchinson at a cost of 2s. 8d. on 19 November 1829. (Archive 7/10/17 Book binding).
