An abridged translation of Mémoires pour la vie de François Pétrarque, written by the Marquis de Sade and first published in Amsterdam, 1764--67. Susannah Dobson's popular abridgement was first published in 1775 (q.v.). The plates are by William Ridley after Thomas Kirk. With an index. The Associated Booksellers appear to have been a short-lived consortium of 1797--1800 whose other publication represented in Soane's library, Zimmermann's Solitude, 1797 (q.v.), also featured plates engraved by Ridley. ESTC t144381.

Copy Notes Large paper copy, bought from Thomas Boone in boards for 12s., 24 December 1805 (paid 25 December 1806) (Spiers Box), and subsequently rebound.

Binding C19th calf, covers with narrow gilt roll-tooled fillet, maroon morocco spine-labels. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 7s., 5 December 1829. (Archive 7/10/17).
