First published in 1652 under the title The history of imbanking and drayning of divers fenns and marshes. The publication of the second edition was initiated by the Corporation of Bedford Level and superintended by their registrar, Charles Nalson Cole. Richard Geast, who financed the printing, was a lineal descendant of Dugdale and owner of the copyright. ESTC n9058.

Copy Notes Inscribed in pencil on front free-endpaper £3-15-0, and on rear free-endpaper with the cipher bfx.

Binding C19th diced russia, gilt roll-tool and triple-rule borders, gilt-tooled corner tips and roll-tooled Greek key turn-ins, gilt-tooled and direct-lettered spine, gilt edges.
