First published at the end of Vie de Mignard de l'abbé de Monville, Paris, 1730. Edited by S. W. S., i.e. S. W. Singer. This edition was printed from a copy belonging to Joseph Warton (1722--1800) containing a note in his hand stating that Fénelon's Dialogues had been recommended to him by the poet, Mark Akenside (1721--1770) as abounding with "true taste". Only 100 numbered copies of this edition were printed.
Copy Notes Numbered the 63rd. Inscribed in ink on third front free-endpaper From Mr. J. Sanders/ 30 Nov: 1811, probably the painter, John Sanders or Saunders (1750--1825).
Binding C19th half green roan, blind double-rule borders, gilt double-rule spine, marbled-paper boards. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 9d., 2 August 1830. (Spiers Box binding 51).
