Large paper copy. The irregular numbering of the plates may be owing to the fact that after issuing a prospectus promising 10 plates Ferrey doubled their number. In addition to Brayley's contribution, the book includes a disquisition (pp. 72--86) on Saxon and Norman remains by Ferrey's 'scientific friend Mr. Garbett of Winchester', the architect, William Garbett (ca. 1770--1834). BAL, Early printed books, no. 1060.

Any future publications of his would, he promised, be bound specially to Soane's wishes. Soane's name is not on the list of subscribers. He bought his large paper copy from Ferrey for £3 in after being sent an ordinary copy on approval on 4 August 1834, paid by cheque on Praed's, 13 May 1835. (Priv. Corr. I.F.3 and XVI.E.7.42).
