Title-page printed in red and black. The author was an antiquary and dealer in Rome with contacts among the British grand tourists. Part 1 ('Libro Primo') is a heavily illustrated and substantial guide to ancient Rome but, despite the general title, the 'Libro Secondo' has a fly- and running-title 'Le Singolaritá Di Roma Moderna ... ', and gives only brief comments on some of the major Renaissance buildings. Two different states of the title-page have been identified with different versions of the engraved device, one with the plate-mark measuring 48x73 mm (A) and the other 47x101 mm (B) - this copy has version (B).

Binding C18th vellum, dyed red over framed gilt spine-title.

Reference Number 2261
