Previously published under title Observations on the causes and cure of smoky chimneys, 1787. Contains two pieces printed in the Transactions of the American philosophical society, vol. 2, 1786: A letter from Dr. B. Franklin to Dr. Ingenhausz, and 'Description of a new stove for burning of pitcoal, and consuming all its smoke', by Dr. B. Franklin; also a letter from Thomas Ruston to Benjamin Franklin. This edition was published by I. and J. Taylor both for separate sale, and to be issued as here with Robert Clavering's Essay on the construction and building of chimneys ..., 3rd ed., 1793 (q.v.).
