The title-page (leaf [A1]) is engraved. Gallaccini's work was completed in 1625 but not published until 1767. The engraved frontispiece found in some copies is not present in this or the BAL copy. It is also found in Antonio Visentini's Osservazioni ... che servono di continuazione al trattato di Teofilo Gallaccini ..., Venice 1771 (q.v.), with which the Soane copy is bound, which may indicate a later issue of the present text. BAL, Early printed books, no. 1159.
Copy Notes Bound (1) with Visentini's Osservazioni, 1771 (q.v.), and bought from Thomas Boone for 6s. on 5 June 1815. (Spiers Box). Inscribed in ink on third front free-endpaper /6/ and John Soane, the latter written over a pencil inscription Fine [illeg]/ Many plates =6s=. Inscribed in ink on verso of second front free-endpaper: Henry Curson/Waterperry/1803. The Curson family lived at Waterperry House, near Thame.
Binding C18th quarter sheep, red paper boards, gilt-tooled spine and black spine-label.
