The author is better known as Lady Maria Callcott. Includes 'Two Dialogues By Fénélon. Descriptive Of Two Of Poussin's Pictures' pp. [155]--178; and 'Catalogue Of Poussin's Principal Paintings': pp. [179]--236. With a frontispiece engraving of Poussin by Fry. The aquatint plate, signed 'C. L. E.', is by Sir Charles Lock Eastlake (1793--1865).
Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the half-title. Inscribed in pencil (not by Soane) on p. 233, with reference to a painting by Poussin of a storm, In the possession/ of Dr Bevan Esq. (i.e. Edward Bevan (1770-1860). Bought from Edward Lawrence for 4s., 27 May 1829. (Priv. Corr.XVI.E.6:26).
Binding C19th quarter redcloth, grey paper boards.
