A descriptive catalogue, of the first part of the large collection of pictures, made by Messrs. Hadfield and Burrowes, during their tour through Flanders, France, Germany and Holland, also, five windows of ancient stained glass, which came from the chapple of Charlemagne, in the cathedral of Aix-le-Chapelle. Lugt 3880. Nearly all the paintings are Flemish or Dutch. The plates are etched reproductions of lots LXIV ('Julio Romano ... A charity painted after the cartoon of Raphael in the Vatican ...'), LXXVII ('Vandyke ... Daniel in the lion's den'), LXXVIII ('Quintin Matrys [i.e. Massys] ... The woman caught in adultery. ...') and LXXIX ('Joachim Wtenwael [i.e. Wtewael] ... 'St. Sebastian.'). They are signed only with the etcher's address, viz. 'No 16 Broad Street Golden Square fecit' (or abbreviations thereof). The second part of the collection is announced at the end as to be 'sold as above in the course of the next Winter.' Title-page corrected in red ink 'Wednesday the 11th ..' to Tuesday and 10. Another issue has the date on the title-page as: 'Tuesday the 10th of May, 1785'.
