Engraved title-plate. Grose's History of the English Army was first published in 1786. This edition is combined with his Treatise on ancient armour and weapons which was first published in numbers shortly before the latter. Volume I includes two plates, at pages 358 and 381, which are not listed in the directions for binding. Volume II with a final leaf of publisher's advertisements. The Treatise has a separate frontispiece and and undated engraved title-plate reading: A treatise on ancient armour and weapons, illustrated by plates taken from the original armour in the Tower of London, and other arsenals, museums and cabinets.
