Copy Notes Bought from R. Faulder, who appears on the subscribers list, for 3 guineas c. 1812. (Spiers Box). In January 1825 Soane was approached by the author's daughters, Margaret Halfpenny and her sister, offering him the original drawings of Halfpenny's Gothic ornaments in the cathedral church of York, 1795--[1800] and of the present work; also included were drawings intended for a third projected work on the progress of church architecture. Soane declined the purchase but assisted the Misses Halfpenny in the unsuccessful search for a buyer, and the drawings were returned in May 1826. (Priv. Corr. XIII.A.13A).
