Single half-sheet, verso blank, with blank subscription receipt form at foot dated '[ ] Day of [ ] 1797'. 'The Work consists of a number of Airs ... revised and collated by Mr. Hullmandel, who has very liberally undertaken the Work, and caused them to be engraved at his own expence.' Subscriptions (half a guinea, to include engraved portrait of the authoress after Ozias Humphrey) were taken in by Nicol and Edwards in Pall Mall, Debrett in Piccadilly, and Hookham in Bond Street. Ann Mary Hodges died a few months after her husband William, in May 1797, leaving five children so the songs were apparently composed between March and May 1797 and published posthumously under the title Songs composed by Mrs Hodges, harmonized and published by Mr Hüllmandel for the benefit of her orphan children and by them most humbly inscribed, ... to Her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain, 1798 (see ESTC t185928).
