The first of a series of books of Picturesque views of English rivers written and illustrated by Samuel Ireland. With an announcement of the publication of the Picturesque views of the river Medway, 1793 (q.v.) on the final leaf of volume II. There was a second edition in 1801--02. The aquatint plates are printed in sepia. See B. Adams, London illustrated (London 1983), no. 71, pp. 168--170. ESTC t2691.

Binding C19th mottled calf, gilt double-rule borders, gilt-tooled spines with sunbursts, black and green spine-labels, marbled edges and endpapers. Uniform with six other works by John and Samuel Ireland (see above).
