First published in 1747 under the title Exaction detected; or, the prices of bricklayers materials and works ... justly ascertained. This is a reissue, with a cancel title-leaf. The author was an unsuccessful architect who made a living chiefly by his architectural publications, of which the most celebrated was Ancient architecture, restored, and improved, 1742 (q.v.). With advertisements for other works by the author on the title-page verso and a final page of errata. ESTC t11866; Harris, 457.
