Half-sheet, folded, verso and conjugate leaf blank. Drop-head title as above. At foot of p.[1]: 'Subscribers Names Received By Hodgson, Boys And Graves, Printsellers to the King, 6, Pall Mall, M.DCCC.XXXV.' The work was to appear in parts 'at regular intervals of Three Months, [each part] containing Three Plates, engraved in the very first style of Mezzotinto, by Samuel Cousins, Charles Turner, John Bromley, and other eminent Engravers.' One or both of the copies of the prospectus in Soane's library may have been accompanied by a lithographed covering letter from Hodgson, Boys, and Graves dated June 1835 (q.v.) also preserved in the Library. The completed work, which is not in the Library, ran to fifty mezzotint plates and was issued with accompanying letterpress descriptions in or sometime after May 1846 (the latest date of any plate).
