Plates accompanying the text of the 1811 quarto edition of Histoire des arts en France (q.v.). With an etched medallion portrait of Lenoir as a tail-piece on p. 11. The description of the plates refers to numbers I--CLXIV, but no such numbering is evident on the plates in this copy. Many of the plates had already appeared in volumes I--VI, 1800--6, of Lenoir's Musée des monumens français (q.v.). See BAL Early printed books, no. 1825.

Copy Notes Soane purchased the two volumes for £2 from Thomas Boone on 16 June 1818. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.3.9).

Binding C19th half calf, blind roll-tooled borders, gilt double-rule spine, marbled-paper boards and matching endpapers. Inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper E.H./ 2d May 1829/ Super Royal Fol./ Binding/ 0: 9: 0, i.e. Edwin Hutchinson, the binder.
