Loggan, David (1635--1692)
Cantabrigia illustrata sive omnium celeberrimæ istius universitatis collegiorum, aularum, bibliothecæ academicæ scholarum publicarum sacelli coll: Regalis nec non totius oppidi ichnographia delineatore & sculptore Dav: Loggan ...
Cantabrigiæ:, quam proprijs sumptibus typis mandavit & impressit,, [ca. 1702].
Engr. t.-pl., engr. dedic., mezzotint port., [32] pl. (3 fold.) ; 43.3 cm. (2°)

The presence of the mezzotint portrait of Charles, Duke of Somerset (painted by J. Riley and engraved by J. Smith) suggests that this is an early 18th-century impression or issue of the plates by J. Smith. The suggested date [1702] is based upon the dated '1702' mezzotint portrait of James, Duke of Ormond in some copies of Loggan's Oxonia illustrata; see BAL 1914. ESTC r9256; BAL, Early printed books, no. 1913; Wing L2837 giving publication date [1690?].

Copy Notes Bought with Loggan's Oxonia illustrata (q.v.) from T. & W. Boone for 9 guineas on 13 Feb. 1830. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.7.2). With the armorial bookplate of William Henry Campbell and his name Wm: Hy: Campbell inscribed in ink on verso of front free-endpaper.
