Compiled by A. Danchet under the supervision of J.P. Bignon and C. Gros de Boze. The penultimate plate lists the painters and engravers involved in this work. This livre de fêtes marks a turning point in the production of such works, with the allegorical elements of earlier publications giving way to elaborate depictions of the actual festivities. Copy Notes With the engraved label of A. Maubert 'Vente, Relieur et Doreur de Livres des Menus Plaisirs de la Chambre du Roy ...' pasted down on the verso of second front free-endpaper. Inscribed in pencil on first front free-endpaper, possibly in the hand of T. Boone, Coronation of Lewis 15th at Riems/ Views. Dresses. of various Orders. Nobility. Officers. &c/ 3£. 3s. 0d.

Binding Contemporary C18th full red morocco, upper and lower covers with elaborate gilt-tooled borders incorporating fleur de lis and royal cyphers, gilt-tooled central panel with royal arms, gilt-tooled spine with royal crowns and cyphers, yellow morocco spine-label, gilt edges. Possibly the work of the bookseller and binder 'A. Maubert', whose label is pasted down on the second front free-endpaper.
