Maffei, Francesco Scipione, Marquis (1675--1755)
De gli anfiteatri e singolarmente del Veronese libre due ne' quali si tratta quanto appartiene all'istoria, e quanto all'architettura.
Verona:, per Gio: Alberto Tumermani libraio,, 1728.

This work was initially intended to form the fourth and last volume of the first edition of Verona illustrata published in 1731--32 (q.v.). It was evidently in response to great public interest in the subject that the publisher decided to issue it first in an octavo format distinct from the folio volumes that were in preparation but only ready for publication three years later. See BAL, Early printed books, no. 1992.
