Imprint from colophon. The plates are signed 'Domenico Marchelli Architetto'. As town architect, Marchelli was responsible for designing the festival buildings erected on the occasion of Napoleon's entry into Reggio Emilia in 1805. The date of publication is given on the penultimate page, and is followed on the last page by the name of the printer in Reggio Emilia, Michele Torreggiani. Hooked on Books 9.3.

Binding C19th quarter black morocco, gilt-tooled spine, green and blue decorated paste-paper boards with gilt-tooled laurel and wave borders, the corners enriched with the crest and crown of Napoleon and the centres of both boards with dyed and painted colour onlays of morocco and vellum gilt- and blind-tooled, depicting the coat of arms and insignia of the King of Italy on the upper board and the escutcheon of the town of Reggio on the lower.
