The imprint of part II reads: London: sold by Messrs. Robinsons; Mr. White; Mr. Faulder; and Mr. Evans, 1799. The work was available on ordinary paper, or on large paper with the aquatints hand-coloured. The Soane copy, large paper with hand-coloured plates, consists of part II only preceded by the additional pictorial title-plate reading 'Ruines De Rome' belonging to part I. The plate of the 'Trophy of Marius' is watermarked '1794 / Whatman' in this copy, indicating that it is from the first edition. With parallel text in French and English. ESTC t105743; BAL, Early printed books, no. 2103 (uncoloured copy on ordinary paper).

Copy Notes Imperfect; part II only. Bought from A. Maxwell with three other books for £3 3s. on 6 October 1812. (Archives 7A/15/37). Front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil in different hands 2C, 2 vol. and 1/11/6, and in ink 2.2-.

Binding C19th mottled calf, gilt roll-tooled borders, gilt-tooled spine with Greek key motif, black and green spine-labels reading 'Views In Rome' and 'Part 2', marbled endpapers.
