London (Place), printed by G. Stafford,, 1795.
26 p. ; 21.1 cm. (8°)

The 'new prison' at Coldbath Fields, Clerkenwell, had been erected in 1788--94, apparently to designs commissioned from Jacob Leroux in 1784 by a building committee of the Middlesex Justices of the Peace. These designs, having undergone much revision by the committee, seem to have formed the basis of the engravings by Charles Middleton published in 1788 as Plans, elevations, and sections of the House of Correction for the county of Middlesex to be erected in Cold-Bath Fields, London ..., a work strangely not in Soane's Library. The building was demolished in 1889 (Colvin, s.v. Leroux). Soane served as a Justice of the Peace for Middlesex from 1810 to 1836. ESTC t11486.
