Edited by James Millingen from notes left by A.-L. Millin, who had planned the work as a continuation of his Histoire métallique de la Révolution française, 1806. A supplement with fourteen more plates and a chronological index to the whole was published in 1821 (British Library 7755.f.19). Soane owned a set of Napoleonic medals, probably purchased in 1816 together with a printed checklist (q.v.).

Binding Contemporary C19th diced russia, both covers blind-tooled with crescent-cornered panel framed by three decorative rolls and two, three and four-line fillets. Two-line gilt borders; middle rolls with small gilt-stamped corner-pieces. Spine tooled in blind and gilt, direct lettering for short title, gilt turn-ins. Marbled edges.
