Includes a list of subscribers, supplemented at the end. The imprint credits J. instead of P. Didot l'ainé in vol. 2. Half-title versos have imprint of Gide, fils, libraire and G. Engelmann, the lithographer responsible for the illustrations. There are eight bis plates in vol. 1 and two in vol. 2; in the latter plates are numbered 82--232 (but pl. 232 misnumbered 182). Most of the plates are printed on India paper. These two volumes cover 'Ancienne Normandie' and are a complete work in themselves, although Voyages pittoresques et romantiques continued until 1878 (including a third volume on Normandy), by which time around twenty volumes had appeared (authorities state various totals between 18 and 25). Michael Twyman, Lithography 1800--1850, 1970, devotes a whole chapter to the series.
