Engelmann, the lithographer responsible for the illustrations. There are eight bis plates in vol. 1 and two in vol. 2; in the latter plates are numbered 82--232 (but pl. 232 misnumbered 182). Most of the plates are printed on India paper. These two volumes cover 'Ancienne Normandie' and are a complete work in themselves, although Voyages pittoresques et romantiques continued until 1878 (including a third volume on Normandy), by which time around twenty volumes had appeared (authorities state various totals between 18 and 25).
