First published under the title Theatrum statuum regiæ celsitudinis Sabaudiæ Ducis, Pedemontii Principis Cypri Regis, 2 vols, Amsterdam 1682, by the heirs of Jean Blaeu as a collection of plates originally published individually by Blaeu between 1660 and 1680. Later reprinted in Dutch (Amsterdam 1697), and in French under the title Théâtre des états de son Altesse Royale le Duc de Savoye ... (The Hague 1700). Eventually the copper-plates were acquired by Rutgert Christoffel Alberts who used them with material from other sources to publish the present new edition in four parts. (See BAL Early printed books, no. 2325.) Title-pages printed in red and black. The frontispiece of 'Pedemontivm' appears in both parts of vol. I; that of 'Sabavdia' in both parts of vol. II. Volume I, pt. II includes a plate of the interior of the Capuchin church not called for in the 'Table' at the end of the volume.

Copy Notes Copy 1: Volume I inscribed in pencil 2 tom 5. 5. 0 on front free-endpaper. Volume II with an inscription in ink on front free-endpaper, erased except for the date 1781; inscribed on the verso of 'Table' N 284 R: C: Alberts, the name of the editor.
Copy 2: Plates only, numbered in pencil 1--151. Five plates have not been joined as intended. Imperfect; wanting pl. [10].

Binding Copy 1: C18th mottled calf, upper and lower covers with gilt roll-tooled floral borders, gilt-tooled panels and elaborate gilt-tooled central cartouche, gilt-tooled spines. The four parts bound in two volumes.
Copy 2: Half sprinkled calf, sprinked paper boards, gilt-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label lettered 'Diverse/ Raare/ Gezigten'.
