Large paper issue with the letterpress printed on heavy paper and all of the engraved plates and also the Dürer woodcuts in vol. II printed on india paper; with hand-coloured duplicates of the copies of early woodcuts facing pp. 86 and 90; and eight Dürer woodcuts between pp. 730 and 731 in vol. II (instead of the four only given in the ordinary issue). Both the plates and illustrations in this copy are protected by inserted guards.

Copy Notes Volume I inscribed in pencil on paste-down Large Paper. Front free-endpapers inscribed in ink in the hand of George Bailey, Mem: -Both of these Volumes much disfigured/ by spots of damp previous to 1837/ GB, and a similar inscription on the front paste-down of vol. I.

Binding C19th half vellum, marbled-paper boards, black morocco spine-labels.
