The format is technically a quarto (see BAL) although the size and shape resemble a folio. With an engraved title-page vignette incorporating a portrait of the author by Charles Grignion after Francis Hayman. The Mansion House in Doncaster, completed in 1748, was Paine's first major commission. ESTC t12766; Harris and Savage, 668; BAL, Early printed books, no. 2376.

Copy Notes Front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil 10-6. Lozenge-shaped paper library label with shelfmark 135 [over] 3 affixed at the head of the front cover nearest the spine.

Binding C18th or early C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label.
