Anonymous. This is in fact a selection from C.P. Landon's Vies et oeuvres des peintres les plus célèbres, 1803--1813 (q.v.) with a reimpression (or unsold sheets) of the original preceded by the English translation on different paper stock, and with plate numbers erased and new captions in French, German and English added to volumes I--III. Volumes I--II contain the works of Raphael, III Domenichino and IV Poussin and Albani. 'The Life Of Francesco Albani' = 'Vie De Francesco Albani' is in volume V, which has a different title-page: 'Illustrations Of The Calendar By A Series Of Eighty-Two Engravings (With Historical And Biographical Sketches,) After The Works Of Raffaelle, Domenichino, Albano, and Poussin'. The English list of illustrations calls for 82 plates; however, the French list calls for 84 plates, pl. XXIX and LXXV in that list being omitted.

Binding C19th half mauve calf, blind roll-tooled borders, gilt-tooled spines, black spine-labels, brown morocco-grain binder's cloth boards.
