Volume II dated 1778; III, 1781; and IV, 1783, the last with a dedication to Baldassare Odescalchi and errata. In the Soane copy the Italian text is preceded by the French translation having a separate title-page reading Les batimens et les desseins de André Palladio recueillis et illustrés par Octave Bertotti Scamozzi, issued in the same year and also available with the plates for separate purchase. Bertotti Scamozzi's edition of Le terme dei Romani, 1785 (q.v.; French only, q.v.), based on Lord Burlington's Fabbriche antiche of 1730 (i.e. around 1735, q.v.) is sometimes incorrectly represented as a fifth volume of the present work. BAL, Early printed books, no. 259; C.I.S.A. Andrea Palladio, La raccolta palladiana Guglielmo Cappelletti del Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio di Vicenza (Vicenza 2001), no. 23; Fowler 231.

Copy Notes Copy 1: Volume I inscribed in pencil on front free endpaper 5 vols. best edit/ complete fine Copy / 18.18.0. A set of 'Palladio 5 t.', probably this one, was bought from Priestley and Weale for 13 guineas on 24 May 1826, the fifth volume presumably being one of the two copies of Bertotti Scamozzi's edition of Le terme dei Romani (q.v.) in Italian and/or French, for 13 guineas on 24 May 1826. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.9).
Copy 2: Imperfect; volumes I and II only in a mixed set with volumes III and IV in the second edition, 1786 (q.v.) (Italian text only, bound in one volume). Some marginal vocabulary notes in pencil (possibly by Soane) on vol. II, p. 9 of the Italian text.

Binding Copy 1: C18th half green vellum, green paper boards, red morocco spine-labels.
Copy 2: C18th Italian 'catspaw' mottled sheep, blind-ruled and gilt roll-tooled borders, gilt-tooled spines. Volume I with gilt-tooled inner panels and pomegranate corner ornaments, black leather spine-label and Italian block-printed paper pastedowns. Volume II lacks the inner panel, the corner ornaments match those on the spines of both volumes, no spine-label, plain paper pastedowns. The third volume is bound to match volume I but using different tools (q.v.) and with plain paper pastedowns.
