First published by subscription in five parts in 1715--[1720] with the text in English, French, and Italian (q.v.). By 1720 the print run of the first two parts was exhausted, and Giacomo Leoni published a new edition of Nicholas Dubois's English translation only, with the plates unchanged. The French text was reprinted separately in the Hague with the same plates in 1726, and a third edition of the English text in London in 1742. Copy Notes Two volumes bound in one. Purchased at Christie's sale, 23 March, 1813 (q.v.), lot 110, for £1 8s. with copies of 'Serly's Architecture' (q.v.), 'Pricke's Vitruvius' i.e. Mauclerc's New treatise of architecture, according to Vitruvius (q.v.), and 'Leeke's Vignola' (q.v.).

Binding C18th reversed calf, blind-tooled panels, blind double-ruled spine, red morocco label.
