Anonymous. By L. S. Mercier. First published in 1781. Mercier was a prolific writer of plays, pamphlets and novels, chiefly remembered for his social commentary. According to the Bibliothèque Nationale, the imprint is false and this edition was likely printed in France. A further four tomes appeared in 1788 bringing the total to twelve.

Copy Notes Eight volumes bound in four. Inscribed in pencil with marginal notes.

Binding C18th 'catspaw' calf, gilt tooled spines, red and black spine-labels.
